Re: Brighton
Being based 9 miles from Brighton most people I know are Brighton fans and I'll never hear the last of it if they go up, especially if the worst happens and we god forbid go the other way!!

Remember being at Upton Park when we beat them 6-0 in the Championship. Not sure why but I walloped a tenner on a 5-0 win before the game at one of the in ground betting stalls. Think I was the only one in the crowd who didn't celebrate when an own goal made it six in the 78th minute!!!

Re: Brighton
Love to Wednesday come back up and maybe Villa after a few seasons down there. The main reason is that they both possess one of the very few large proper football stadiums left.

I quite like Sheff Weds, not sure why? Glad to see Brighton though, My mum is a Brighton girl.

Re: Brighton
The definition of 'big' has become muddied in recent times due to the increased importance of TV fees but I still say a big club is the decided by the number of paying customers.

This season WH became a big club...

Re: Brighton
I view clubs like Leeds and Newcastle as big because they are essentially one club in one city. But then there are multiple big clubs in a city. Man U & city and Villa. Or is it down the number of supporters both at home and worldwide. Wigan will never be a big club and I wouldn't view Leicester as big but if their success continues and support grows, especially in Asia will they be classed as big?

Re: Brighton
I'm not sure I understand what makes a " big " club . Are we a " big " club or have we ever been a " big " club . Newcastle , Leeds and Villa all have a decent following but surely they can't be classed as " big " based on recent success?

Re: Brighton
OK - so when does a club officially become "big"? Did the process that makes a club "big" stop the minute you got into football and thus it will ever be?

Well said mate.

All those clubs are missed in the premier league.

Give me them over the likes of Bournemouth..Hull..Swansea

Nothing against those clubs..and havin a few in the top league is great..but there are to many at the moment.

Poorest quality premier league this season for me..in a strong league..the shit we've served up this season warrants relegation

That's because they know their football and history. I guess it is all about perspective. A lot of youngsters won't recognise them as being so. You should know better.

Coventry are the first club from the original 1992 Premier League line up to hit the fourth tier I think?

If Blackburn go down they will be the first Premier League Champions to hit the third tier.

Re: Brighton
I suspect there's a reason West Ham fans call clubs like Villa, Newcastle, Leeds & Wednesday "big".

Re: Brighton
I do look at Villa & Newcastle.

The WERE big clubs, as well, but a bit more recently than Leeds & Wedesday.

A decent day out does not a big club make.

AND a club can both not be big and in the Premier League.

Sorry Mike, Leeds and Wednesday are still big clubs!
You don't have to be in the premier league to be a big club, just look at Villa and Newcastle!

For personal reasons I hope they manage to fuck up on the last day and bomb out of the play offs.
